Coolest Under Dog Cake

by Kerry Knight
(Morinville, AB Canada)

I made this cake for my friend's son. He wanted Under Dog flying so I drew a picture on butcher paper then cut it out. I did a crumb layer of butter cream icing over the entire cake then sprayed the cake with blue spray colouring to create clouds and sky. I ripped a piece of paper and held it over the cake to create the cloud lines, but you can't see that effect so well because most of crumb layer was covered with the details. I used Wilton paste colours. I placed my cut out drawing on the cake once the crumb layer was finished and I traced the outline with a toothpick. Then I filled in the details free hand. I used a round tip for outlining and the ears and nose fill-in. The rest is filled in with a star tip #2.
