Homemade Uniqua Pink Cake
This was my second time working with fondant and my first time making a stacked cake. I made this for a friend of mine for her 3 year old's birthday party.
The cake was Betty Crocker yellow, it was first frosted and filled with buttercream and then covered with the pink fondant. I mixed all of the fondant colors myself - starting with the same base pink and adding more gel coloring for a brighter and brighter color. This was also my first time working with a cake this big. The bottom layer is two 12inch cakes and the top layer is two 9inch cakes. I learned all about supporting the top cake with dowels in the bottom cake. This made me nervous but I was very happy with how it turned out!
I traced the Uniqua face and then cut the pieces out of fondant. I outlined the face with a black icing writer to make it stand out more.
Once the cake was delivered to the party (and I was able to relax since it got there in one piece) there were many compliments as to the job I did - so for that reason I wanted to share it here.
