Homemade Volcano Dirt Cake
My son helped me make this Volcano Dirt Cake for his 8th birthday. We baked a chocolate bundt cake to use as a base and froze it after we removed it from the pan. This makes it easier to "carve". We followed a dirt cake recipe we got from the web, added more cookies and less pudding so we could sculpt it and it would hold it's shape.
We put a paper towel tube in the hole of the bundt cake and built the volcano around it. The frosting is vanilla with food coloring, microwaved to look like lave. My son added the dragons and the phoenix.
