Homemade Waterfall Birthday Cake

Homemade Waterfall Birthday Cake

I used 2 boxes of chocolate cake mix for this Waterfall Birthday Cake. One I baked in a 9 x 13 pan and the other divided between an 8" square pan and an 8" round pan. I created the mountain by stacking the 9 x 13 on the bottom, the square placed on top at the back left corner, and the round cut into two unequal semi circles the smallest on top.

I iced the whole cake with chocolate icing. For the water I used turquoise blue coloured melting chocolate from Michaels craft store. The white water is sparkly white gel icing. I used polished decor stones that I washed well to frame the waterfall. I covered cone tips with green icing for the trees, and then filled in with some grass.

My kids loved it.

Thanks Tricia for the tip. I did try to get candy rocks, but our local store had sold out of them and wasn't getting more in time for the birthday party. Candy rocks would definitely be more tasty option!

Candy rocks could have been used. I remember bringing home some for my kids after our vacation to Branson, MO.
This is a very pretty cake. I may have to use this idea some time.
