My little one wanted a blue whale cake from day one, so I just had to live up to the challenge.

I've used rice crispy treat to form the body and covered it with marshmallow fondant. I originally did the same with the tail, but it was much too big and heavy after it was covered, so I made a second one with fondant only. It was kept in place by toothpicks. The baby whale was also sculpted with the fondant. The body and tail was placed on a sponge cake with butter icing to form the sea and waves. The teeth and eyes was more fondant and I covered the whales with egg white to get the "wet look".
