Homemade Wild West Birthday Cake

Homemade Wild West Birthday Cake

I made this homemade wild west birthday cake for my son's fourth birthday party which had a Cowboys and Indians theme. I am a bit of a novice, but was quite pleased with the result.

I baked two Madeira sponges a 13 x 9 inch rectangle and a 9 x 9 inch square, and iced them with yellow sugarpaste icing to form the 'desert' background. Then I cut out lots of green cactus shapes from green sugarpaste and stuck them around the sides of the bottom level. I used chocolate fingers around the sides of the top level to look like an old fence and stuck them into the cake just using a bit of brown coloured icing. Then I just stuck lots of cowboy and Indian figures around the cake, and a wagon which they loved!

Everyone thought my homemade wild west birthday cake was great (it was actually quite easy to put together).
