Homemade Winnie the Pooh Cake

My wife and I made this Winnie the Pooh cake ourselves. It took us 5 hours to complete.

Firstly I made two 25cm round marble cakes two days prior to our daughter's birthday. The night before her big day we shaped and decorated the cake.

Firstly we took a picture of Winnie and enlarged it to an A5 size then cut out the figure. We then placed it on the two cakes which we joined together by cutting the end of each one. I then cut around the template to make the shape.

While I prepared the icing colours, my wife did the decorating of Winnie's colours which slowly transformed into a piece of art. A great credit to her. Mind you, while we were decorating our daughter was crawling around at our feet, so we were entertaing her while proceding with our project.

Neither my wife or I have made a cake to this degree. I have to admit we did a great job. On her birthday it was very hard for us to cut the cake due to the fact of the work involved, but I'm glad we did as it tasted beautiful.
