Wookie Cake

Wookie Cake

I made this Wookie cake after a girl friend of mine requested it for her birthday. I had made a 3D R2D2 cake for my son’s birthday after getting great tips from this site. After seeing R2 my girl friend had to have a Wookie. Although not as elaborate as the R2 cake, the Wookie was still fun and a big hit.

To make the cake I used a simple German chocolate cake mix as a base and added 1 cup sour cream, 1 cup water, 3/4 cup vegetable oil,,3/4 cup granulated sugar and 4 eggs. This makes a super moist and easy cake. I baked the cake in a 9x13 rectangular pan for about 30 min.

After cooling I put the cake in the freezer for a couple of hours to make it easier to cut and frost. I used a blown up picture of the Wookie from a book for the outline shape of the cake. I used store bought coconut pecan frosting (makes a good hairy look) and black & white gel icing for the face. His blue eyes were white gel icing with a little food coloring.

I had a lot of fun with this cake and hope it helps inspire someone else to have fun with there own creation.
