Homemade World Travel Cake
This World Travel Cake was inspired by a military friend who was bound for Korea to serve a tour of duty without his family. All the cakes were vanilla sponge cake and covered with buttercream icing. My friend had a huge collection of the “Dummies” books, so it was easy to take one and use it as a guide on how the book should look.
The edge of the book was iced using the basketweave tip to make it look like pages. The globe was made using the sports ball pan set. I went to the internet to see what the Korean flag looked like. I iced the book first with a light yellow icing and then added the detail on top of that.
