My son, for his 11th birthday, wanted an Xbox birthday cake that looked just like his Xbox, complete with a controller. His friend, being ever so helpful, asked where the game was, so I had to add that too!
I used a typical rectangular baking pan (two layers) and then carved it the shape of the Xbox. After dirty icing, I covered it in black fondant (never use Wilton’s, it taste’s horrible). Duff’s is pretty good, and I add vanilla and almond extract to it.
The controller is shaped from rice krispies treats, iced, covered in fondant, and then decorated using fondant and M&M’s. The game is candy melts, tinted gray, and melted into a Tupperware lid.
The boys all loved it! The mom’s of the boys were not happy when their child asked for one for their birthday.
