Funny Homemade Yo Gabba Gabba Brobee Cake

This was a homemade Yo Gabba Gabba Brobee cake for my 2 year old who, at the time, was infatuated with the T.V. show “Yo Gabba Gabba!”. Brobee seemed like a character that would be the most fun to create.

I used ice cream cones for his signature spikes on top of his head and a simple frosting of butter and powdered sugar. I always add a touch of salt to the frosting unless the butter used is already salted. Salt makes the frosting taste better and balances out the sweetness of the powdered sugar.

Although a cake from scratch is great, I usually use the boxed varieties since I don’t have as much time on my hands as I used to. A nice way to spruce up cake mix is to add some citrus zest, flavorings, juices or liquors. When you use juices, be sure to subtract from the amount of water needed in the recipe so as not to ruin the consistency of the batter.
