Curious George shower cake
I baked 3 8inch layers of dark chocolate cake and added chocolate chips to the mix. The filling was a bittersweet chocolate ganache and the outer frosting was buttercream. I made a red frosting first with Wilton no taste red, but ended up buying Americolor Red-red to get it deeper. (it took probably at least 2 tsp full total). I piped yellow shells and used an image of George balancing on a ball as my inspiration. I had to mostly hand draw him but did try to use brown piping gel on waxed paper (taped atop the image) and did a reverse image onto the cake. It wasn't detailed enough but helped get the dimensions right. Then I placed banana candies around the cake to help "pretty" it up. This was for my sisters baby shower so I just piped "welcome Aubrie" on the top. This is just my second attempt at making cakes for others so it's been a work in progress.
