I decided to try to make a Elephant and Stars Diaper Cake for a friend's babyshower and it turned out really well for being my first one. After that more and more friends wanted me to make them for them. My cakes are made completely of diapers with no cardboard inside. They are made of about 120-140 size 1 or 2 Huggies diapers.
I use the diapers flat on the outside and tie them together with some twine and then I stuff the inside with rolled up diapers and cover the twine with ribbon. They sit on a board for easier transportation and I cover the board with a receiving blanket made to match the theme. I decorate them with usable items like baby shampoo, baby lotion, bottle scrubbers, nail clippers, teething rings, baby spoons, etc. and I usually top them with a stuffed animal.
This Homemade Diaper Cake Idea was made with 92 pampers Swaddler diapers size 1. I used a small glass piggy bank on the top and I got a pack of mini roses at the Dollar store and glued them onto the ribbon. All the purple and pink bows you see on it are actually infant head bands. I just wrapped the stretchy elastic part of the head band around the diaper or I stuck it in between some of the diapers so just the bow would poke out.
The little teddy bears on it are just for decoration, they have lil sticks on the ends so it was easy to stick them in between all the diapers. also I added a baby comb and brush! It looked pretty unwrapped but to keep the cake clean I wrapped it in iridescent cellophane!
My friend asked me to make a cake that looks like F15 and this F15 Diaper Cake Design is what I came up with. I bought about 4 packs of diapers 2x newborn size and 2x size 2. I used cardboard to cut draw the outline of the f15 and started from there.
I rolled all the diapers and used rubber band so it will stay. I used invisible tape and just followed the pattern on the cardboard and secured it with the tape. After everything is put together I used the ribbons to hide some of the tape and actually to add more color to it. I'm making this for baby girl so I used pink bows. And just let your creative mind do the rest.
I made this doggie diaper cake for a doggie lover mom-to-be, my sister-in-law! This is made up of 92 pieces Pampers new Swaddlers size 1 diapers individually rolled and held in place by small hair ties / rubber bands. Each tier is further held in place by larger rubber bands and wrapped and decorated by ribbons.
The baby essentials are placed both inside and outside the diaper cake. A complete listing of the ingredients can be found in the pictures attached.
This Flower Power Diaper Cake is the third cake I've made, it is no where near as good as the one's I have seen on this site, but I'm getting there slowly, I enjoy making them and hope to carry on doing so.
The cake has about 80 nappies all rolled with rubberbands, and then covered with baby blankets and a few soft toys and baby products around the cake.
I bumped on to this website and saw this homemade first birthday diaper baby cake that a wonderful lady (who makes cakes at home) created. I had a couple of ideas for my son's first birthday cake, but his older brother loved this cake & the look of it, so he's the one who selected the design. All our family & friends loved the cake.
