This is the Diego mountain scene cake I made for my son's fourth birthday, chocolate with banana flavored frosting. Cake was used to make the mountain, the rest was frosting, with the exception of the Diego candle, the plastic baby jaguar, the plastic macaw, and the plastic trees. The lookout tower was frosted cake, same with the stones and water.
It was made using Wilton 10" cake round, I baked 3 cakes and froze them two days prior. On the day of decorating I took the cakes out one at a time, dust the crumbs off and began assembling the first two layers with banana flavored frosting in the middle. The third cake I cut into the shape of the mountain and added it to the cake as layers (with frosting in between).
I iced the whole cake with yellow frosting for a base except the mountain, it was frosted in green. I used Wilton round tips to make the stones, the Wilton grass tip for the grass, and the star tip for the ruffles. I added the plastic pieces and the candle and transported the cake to the party in a wedding cake box lined with non-slip rubber shelf liner.
My son was turning 3 and he just loves Diego... my mom had found all the figures at Kmart and I chose all my colors for the icing.
For this homemade Diego scene cake I started with two rectangle cakes... one side was butter recipe and the other side was chocolate... I bought professional buttercream icing and iced the entire cake in white icing. I had the tube icings in the colors yellow, blue, and green.
I made the airplane tarmac by mixing buttercream and chocolate icing to make it light brown... I took the green icing with the grass tip and made two grassy areas, I took the blue icing and made a watering hole... the figurines that we found included all the animals that Diego rescues and takes care of, trees, rocks, and we picked up some airplanes.
If there is anything else you would like to know about this cake... feel free to comment or email me at BLashaO21atgmail.com... Thanks!!
I made this Go Diego Cake Birthday Cake for my nephew Joshua Steven. He is 5 years old and he is a fan of Diego. I made two round cakes (8 and 10 inches. I cut a little piece of the 10 inches cake and I cut about 3/4 of the 8 inches cake to make the waterfall.
I used the 1/3 of the cake for the top of the mountain. I couldn't find any figures of Diego and I cut some stickers and paste it in a foam. I cut them and put a toothpick to place it in the cake. I made the rocks with fondant. I hope you like it.

I used 2 sheet cakes. One for the bottom layer, the second I cut width-wise 1/3 off. Then stacked the 2/3 on the bottom layer, and the 1/3 on the 2/3 to be the top layer. I dug out a waterfall area in the ceter-line of the cake. Used icing tips to create grasses off the top layers around the edges. Used blue icing to be the waterfall. Added Diego and Baby Jaguar toys to be on the cake, and found jungle themed candles and placed those around on the cake.
