Dirtbike Jumps Cake

by Donna G
(Edmonton AB Canada)

This was the second cake that we made for our son's 1st birthday "boy" themed party! My husband was so proud of this cake and we worked on this one for a total of 2 hours (not including time to make icing and cake).

This is just a run of the mill white cake (11 x 14") iced with vanilla buttercream (tinted green). The 'grass' are green jimmies. The road is oreo crumbs on brown tinted icing. The bike was the last thing to be placed on the cake right before putting it out (it was a lot harder to balance it then I thought it would be). The trees were cut out of construction paper and taped to skewers.

This cake was fun to decorate and was a HUGE hit at the party! We were pretty proud of our very first attempt ever at cake decorating!
