This Dalek Birthday Cake was my 1st ever attempt at making a birthday cake for my kids. It is a chocolate Dalek. I made 3 8" cakes and a small cake in a domed dish for the top. I then shaped the cakes to try to get the shape of a Dalek and Daddy made K-9 out of the off cuts. The cake was then put together with icing & jam to get it to stick together.
I then covered the cake in a chocolate ganache and used matchmakers, malteesers, midget gems, Haribo rings, walnut whips and a licorice wheel and some icing to decorate it . It went down a treat with all the family.
Here is a Dalek (Doctor Who) Cake that I have made for a friend's little boy, who is turning eight. I found a picture of a Dalek online, then used this to help create the cake. I made a template to get the shape right and used it to cut out the shape of the Dalek from two large rectangle sponges. It has a jam and butter cream filling and covered with black sugar paste. From the picture, I added all the details and painted certain parts silver.
