Dora Birthday Cake

My sister asked me to bake this cake for my niece who was turning "2" I had never made a cake like this before, but I enjoy a challenge.

I went to a local cake store to have them help me purchase the right items. I ended up buying everything and went home to try a bake the cake. The first one I couldn't even get out of the pan it fell apart when I tried to take it out so I had to throw it away. Quickly realizing this was going to be far more complicated than I had fist imagined I decided to order one from the bakery and not hassle with this whole process. The next day I had a change of heart and decided to give it another shot. I am glad I did even though it was more expensive then the back-up cake and took about 5 hours total of my time. I think the cake turned out great and I am very proud and ready to do another one It even tasted better then the store bought back up cake!
