Homemade Fire Breathing Dragon Cake Design

I looked all over for dragon cake ideas but the choices are limited in Paris, France. Luckily, I found the Wilton Dinosaur cake mould at a specialty store, so I made a devils food cake with that, and another chocolate bundt cake, from which I cut the tail, the wings and the ear for this Fire Breathing Dragon Cake Design. I made white buttercream icing, and tinted the green and yellow for the body and sides. For the Kelly green, red and black details, I used Wilton tubes of decorating icing. I'm not very good at piping stars, so I spread the green frosting and then made scales with the back of a small fork handle. I added some depth with a green color mist, and added sprinkle sugar for accents.

The birthday message, number 4, and the fire I made with fondant and red licorice string candy. It took all day, but it was fun!

Homemade Dragon Birthday Cake Design

This Dragon Birthday Cake Design was created from other ideas on the site. Cutting it into proper shape was the hardest part. It was made from a 9 in. round cut in half and the rest was just cut to shape from a small loaf pan and another 9 in round cake. I make my cake entirely edible.

Spikes= Keebler grahams, wings= fruit roll ups, nose holes= Kisses, fire = melted Laffy Taffy, eyes= half marshmallows & chocolate chips. Rest are candy fruit slices or candy gummies.

First of all this is made with two 9in round cakes. You cut 1 in half and the other like the picture shown. For this homemade fire breathing dragon cake you need marshmallows and chocolate chips for the eyes, fruit gems for the toes, fruit roll ups for the wings and fire, lots of icing, and chocolate covered graham crackers for the spikes.

This was the first cake I have ever tried and it was actually really easy!

I made this Fire Breathing Dragon Cake Design for my son's sixth birthday. It was made from 2 nine inch round cakes. I then piped the icing on the cake and smoothed it out. I added fruit roll ups for the wings and the fire. Fruit snacks for the toes and nose. Hersey kisses for the eyes and the scales.

This is the first time I made a cake like this.
