Dukes of Hazzard Birthday Cake

It all started when my 6 year old nephew wanted to have a Dukes of Hazzard birthday. When I was listening to my brother and sister-in law plan this party there were not very many options for decorations. So I then decided to get creative and make his cake. With it being Dukes of Hazzard it had to be creative. I brainstormed for weeks and wanted to do something fast and packed with action!

I made 2 sheet cakes and put them on top of each other for height. I then decided to make the General Lee (the car) jumping over the water. Anyone who watches the show knows that the car was always jumping through the air getting away from the cops. I made a ramp out of Hershey’s bars and propped them up with donuts to keep it stable.

I frosted the whole cake and ramp brown like dirt. I then carved out part of the cake to fill with “water” I lined the hole with plastic wrap so it wouldn’t absorb into the cake and used blue jello to fill the cake with. I put brown sugar on the ramp to make it look like sand and used dyed coconut to make it look like grass.

I then put the model car hanging over the water to make it look like it was jumping over the water. My nephew was so excited to see his cake and everyone loved it! It was my creativity at its best!
