My daughter loves Dumbo so my husband and I made her a Dumbo cake for her second birthday. I baked a cake in a Pyrex bowl and my husband carved a face out of it. The ears were made from a regular sheet cake and held up with those long wooden skewers. The nose was also held on by skewers. Under Dumbo was a star shaped cake.

My daughter chose a Dumbo first birthday theme for my grandson's first birthday.
To make the cakes I used pictures from the themed tablecloth and napkins. I placed parchment paper over the pictures and traced with piping gel. After icing the cakes I put the picture gel side down and removed the parchment paper. The gel stays. I outlined the picture in black icing and then filled in the rest with a star tip. I smoothed a little icing in the areas for the eyes and tongue and then put the finishing touches on.Mary Ann B.
