Easy but AWESOME My Little Pony Cake for my 5 year old girl

I made this cake for my daughter when she turned 5. We wanted something different from the usual My Little Pony cakes that are made. I came up with this idea after shopping for her present and stumbling across the small pony figurines. I thought they’d be great, a cake and an extra “present” for her to keep.

Following a basic butter cream cake recipe, I made one rectangular slab cake and one round cake. After the baking & cooling process, I cut the round cake in half and arranged on the edge of the rectangle one and secured with skewer sticks. After a crumb coat, I covered the whole cake with green buttercream icing – I like using Wilton gels to get that vibrant colour :)

I made the waterfall with blue buttercream and arranged edible chocolate rocks  around it. The trees and mini ice cream cones with green icing piped on using the star tip. Then, using the grass tip, I piped grass in appropriate places. I used edible sugar flowers and just arranged them around the cake.

Lastly, putting on the ponies.

Her party guests were all surprised everything, bar the ponies, was edible!

She loved this cake. Not as much as me though with how easy it was ;)
