Homemade Princess Cake

by Abby
(Medford Lakes,NJ)

The princess castle cake was made for my friend’s eighteen birthday. I used two different types’ ice cream cones to make the towers on the castle. I used two regular ice cream cones and put the ends together and then added a sugar ice cream cone on top. I iced the cones and added sugar sprinkles. Then I used pink and purple frosting to decorate the rest of the castle cake . I piped grass alongside of the cake and on the other side of the moat. I used blue piping gel as water and I broke an ice cream cone to use as a bridge. I used purple icing to pipe the door. As a finally touch, I used star sprinkles on the top of the cake. It turned out really well and my friend was so surprised.

For this cake, I was inspired by this website and used a couple different ideas and made my own cake. I made a 8'' chocolate cake with buttercream icing.

Homemade Princess Castle Cake

For a Princess of any age!

For a Princess of any age!

This cake was for my 3-year-old granddaughter, Kalli. She loves princesses....and cake! I started out with a 2 layer 10" layer cake and frosted it white. Added a small 4" layer cake cut from a sheet cake in the middle and 4 small circle cut out from the same sheet cake. All were frosted white.

Added 1 styro-foam cone in the center frosted white and sprinkled with sparkling sugar. Placed 4 sugar cones frosted and sugared on top of the four circle cut outs. Edged all with piping and placed sugar cubes near the edge. Piped a door and windows then piped small vines and star flowers. Piped small stars on tops of the turrets.

This cake is fun to make and you don't need a lot of fancy equipment to make it. I hope someone else is inspired to try it too!

Homemade Princess Birthday Cake

This was made for a special little girl who turned six! A two tierd cake, strawberry on top 8" and 12" bottom chocolate. The cake was coverd in pink and purple satin ice rolled fondant (good stuff). zebra stripes on bottom and polka dots on top gave it a unique look. This was her golden birthday so i cut out a strip of fondant (white) and put it around the base of the bottom tier. Hand painted the fondant with gold highlighter and made fondant perls (white) and painted them also with gold highlighter. the cake was decorated later with a wand and princess tiara..

I must say I was worried about the fondant, but let me tell you it was so good. The birthday girl even blurted out at the table wow this is amazing! Great job and I would definitely order again!!

Homemade Pony cake

by Leanne H
(Christchurch, New Zealand)

This cake was created as a wish for a three tiered cake "like a wedding cake".

It evolved during the decorating process and we had no idea how it would turn out. It consists of two chocolate cakes baked in different size tins and then a cupcake for the top tier. The ponies added great color with white chocolate buttons to finish off. The icing is just colored butter icing.

The princess cake I made for a girl who turned 4 years old. Princes Tiana is her favorite. The cake was made of chocolate. Backing the cake was easy icing not so easy. Iwanted it to look just like the picture. I've studied it a few days before I had to make the cake. The ahrdest part was to find the doll also but we did. The cake was great.
