THIS CAKE WAS MADE FOR MY DAUGHTERS 8TH BIRTHDAY WHO JUST REFUSED TO SETTLE FOR A STORE BOUGHT CAKE THIS YEAR. I BOUGHT WILTON FONDANT AND FOOD COLORING. THIS WAS MY 1ST TIME MAKING A CAKE FROM SCRATCH. I USED 3 TO 4 CUPS OF FLOUR 4 EGG WHITES UNBEATEN 4 CUPS OF SUGAR APPROX 1 TBSP OF BAKING POWDER FOR EACH CAKE LAYER. THERE WERE 4 LAYERS IN ALL AND A TWO 10IN ROUND PANS FOR THE TOP AND 2 12IN PANS FOR THE BOTTOM. THE CAKES WERE BAKED FOR ABOUT 45MINS AND THEN COOLED FOR ABOUT 45 MINS. THE CAKES WERE THEN COVERED AND LAYERED WITH BUTTERCREAM ICING THAT I PURCHASED FROM A LOCAL CAKE BAKERY. NEXT I COVERED THE BOTTOM WITH A SOLID COVERED LAYER OF WHITE FONDANT THEN MY COUSIN AND I DYED AND CUT THE STRIPS AND PLACED THEM ON THE CAKE THEN WE DYED THE TOP LAYER OF FONDANT AND CUT OUT THE DOTS. WE THEN ADDED THE FIGURINES TO THE CAKE THAT I PURCHASED FROM A LOCAL TOY STORE. THE CAKE TOOK US ABOUT 10HRS TO MAKE WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS SO IT WAS KIND OF A TRIAL AND ERROR THING. IN THE END IT WAS PRESENTED TO MY DAUGHTER THE NXT DAY AT THE SKATING RINK WHERE HER PARTY WAS BEING HELD AND SHE ALMOST CRIED!!! I GOT MANY COMPLEMENTS AND INQURIES ON THE CAKE LOTS OF PASSER-BYES ASKED WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAKE AND THEN ASKED IF I DID DECORATING FOR A LIVING LOL. FAMILY MEMBERS ALSO HAD WONDERFUL THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE FLAVOR AS WELL. THE MAIN THING IS MY DAUGHTER WAS OVER WHELMED WITH JOY AND SHE LOVED IT!!!!!!

WOW! that is such a colorful and very detailed cake. It looks like it took a lot of work, but it also looks so inviting. Wish I could have a piece now. I like the way how she talked about their trial and errors, doing it yourself is always best and they did a great job,. It is so detailed and very vivid....I Love it!

Homemade Littlest PetShop Cupcake Cake

Littlest Petshop

Littlest Petshop

It was my daughters 3rd birthday. We are a military family and are stationed far from our family and friends. So we made the whole weekend her weekend. We took her to toys r us to pick out her own toy. She picked the littlest petshop tree house...so we found a 10 pk of the little pets. I shopped at walmart and got the flowers and butterflies cupcake liners cupcake stand and a box of whipped frosting mix. The whipped frosting kit is delicious but its gotta be cold to hold up. I added a small dab of green frosting dye and used a star tip to dab and pull for grass. I do have the grass tip but this frosting did not want to cooperate. I am no professional...yet, but givin my experience i would definity use a different frosting if i made it again. I sprinkeled the top tier with blue sprinkles and added the little pets and candles. Then added the flowers and butterflies to the 2nd and 3rd tiers. It wasnt hard nor expensive to make. And it was totally worth making to hear my 3 yr old daughter tell me,"I Love It!"

Homemade Lolly Shop Birthday Cake

The whole cake

This cake was really easy to make and you can use whatever lollies you have around. The cake itself was a white Chocolate Mud Cake. I covered the cake with white chocolate ganash. The letters are made from black fondant. I used a wooden stick (in the back right hand corner) and covered it with 2 party blowers, i stuck that straight into the cake. And on this stick i tied little lolly bags all the way up the stick. And then the lollies include - kool mints around the bottom edges of the cake. Giant lolly pops, chuppa chupps, snakes, mm's, sherbet icecream cones, jubes, white chocolate and chocolate drops and freckles around the sides of the cake and jelly babies. I cut out fondant flowers from blue, pink and yellow fondant and placed them at the front of the cake board and over the cake itself. I filled up lolly jars to make it look like a candy bar! It was for my mum's bday and tasted very yummy!
