I made this garden themed birthday cake for my Mom's 60th birthday. It is a 12" layer of lemon poppy seed cut in half and stack and a 12" layer of marble cut in half and stacked for two different cakes in one. The lemon poppy seed side is filled with lemon filling and the marble side is filled with fudge chocolate butter cream. It is frosted with green butter cream frosting. The pond is blue tinted piping gel. The path is peanut butter candy melts. The gazing ball and stand are made from white and red modeling candy melts. The trees are made from ice cream cones covered in green candy melts. The fence and arch are made from bread sticks covered in white candy melts. The cardinals are made from red candy melts. The bench is made with graham crackers pieces covered in white candy melts. The grass and flowers are made with butter cream.
This chocolate heart shaped cake was prepared by me last week for mums 50th birthday. It had to be something special as it was her big 50th birthday.
An ordinary shaped round cake would not have made the required effect of love and affection that a heart shaped cake had. Once the heart shaped cake was made easily in a heart shaped man, it was very easy to give it a more defined shape by the heart shaped decorations on the cake with the chocolate chips. And ofcourse, nothing would have expressed my love for her other than the RED chocolate chips.
After the heart shaped cake was out of the oven and the milk chocolate frosting covered the cake, I placed each chocolate chip to form layers of hearts with red and white chocolate chips on the chocolate fudge cake and placed it on a complimenting red board.
My friend asked me to make a cake for her husband and daughter who shares the same Birthday! I first thought of doing only one layer and splitting it in the middle but then thought I could bake them each their own layer and decorate it Pink for the Girl and Blue for the Dad. I bought white fondant and coloured it myself with colour gel. I used a small star cutter to make the border of the bottom cake and a small flower cutter to make border for pink cake. I made their names out of plain white which I sprayed with edible gold paint. The cakes itself was just a plain sponge with strawberry jam and butter icing filling. I loved making this cake and they loved it too.
This cake was chocolatemania !!! I made a 8" and a 12" chocolate mud cake.... melted and tempered some dark chocolate and spread on non stick cooking paper once it set a bit but not really hard i cut it in the squares for the outside around the cakes, i also drizzled some red royal icing on these squares in thin lines... let it set then peel off non stick paper... also melt and temper some white chocolate when set shave with a knife on a angle or a potato peeler to get the chocolate curls...The roses and 18 were made out of plastic icing (fondant)and put into the cakes then all white chocolate curls were put around them on the cakes... and Happy Birthday !! she loved it !!!
I made this cake for my daughter's 14th birthday. I found it sifting through a book at a craft store. It looked easy so I decided to try it. I started with a 9*13 cake then made 12 cupcakes.I cut the tops off some of the cupcakes,frosted them and set them on the top of the cake. I used tips to make the stems to the flowers and used gummy worms, and gum balls to decorate with as well.I used food coloring to make differant color flowers. Then with the leftover cupcakes I decorated them and arranged them around the cake. It was however very heavy and ended up splitting before we ate it but everyone loved.
