Homemade Rubber Duckie Cake

by Brenda
(Michigan)

This is a baby shower cake I made for a friends daughter. She ask for a cake that would feed a lot of people...this was more than enough ! Lots of take home cake for everyone , but they all liked it . I made two double 9x13 cakes and the round layers for center . All were covered with whipped cream icing. I made and rolled all the bubbles with marshmallow fondant. (very easy recipe) I cut out dots in colors she requested, from the marshmallow fondant that I had added melted colored chocolate wafers to. (bought at Michael's - wilton melting wafers) I wanted to make a duck, but found rubber ones and just added to top of cakes. This was actually a very easy cake- but the whipped cream icing needs to be kept cool, not good idea for very warm weather, unless there is air conditioning !

Homemade princesss castle cake

The coolest cake

The coolest cake

My daughter was turning 1 and my niece was turning 7 and we had bought the tiers and little accessories like that. The cake was 27 inches wide by 17long. We started with a choclate cake(13x9) then a little smaller yellow square cake the topped it with a square a little smaller than that. We had a fountain in a pool with leaves and flowers that were floating in the water. We also had a rose garden and hedges over the entire outer castle. I wanted to do this cake because my daughter is my princess. I wanted her 1st bday cake to be a hit...&it was. Everyone loved it so much they didnt know what to eat first. We had 6 different cakes in this project and it took 2 days &12 lbs of frosting but we did it.

lion topper (marshmallow fondant)

This cake is one that I made it was for my soon to arrive nephew. I made it vanilla on top and chocolate on bottom covered in homemade buttercream. The design was based on the theme of the shower which was King of the Jungle. I made the topper (lion) out of homemade marshmallow fondant. I also colored all the fondant myself and cut it out and placed it on the cake. I started on this cake at noon and didn't finish until about 12:30a. It was definitely a success because I had never done a 2 tiered cake by myself it was definitely a hit at the party. Everyone enjoyed it as we didn't have but maybe 2 pieces left after the shower.

Homemade Rockstar MX Cake

by Jude
(Gold Coast, Australia)

Hi all, l too was looking for ideas for my sons 8th birthday cake and being that he is dairy free l knew l had to make it for him. I made a large chocolate cake and used the icing that comes pre made (Betty Crocker and the coloured icing tubes) and downloaded a Rockstar image from the internet to use as the main image on his cake.
I then drew this free hand on the cake using the tube icing and then topped it off with one of his toy Rockstar motor bikes....everyone loved it and most of all he did too!. The Rockstar image took me about an hour to do so if you have patients you will do fine!
