My 6-year-old daughter wanted a Fancy Nancy themed party, so we made a Fancy Nancy Birthday Cake Design which was colorful, glitzy, and covered with all things girly.
This cake was three tiers displayed on the Wilton Graceful Tiers stand. The stand was decorated with pink boas and flowers and butterflies from Hobby Lobby's floral section. We added some sunglasses, a cascading necklace, and a tiara for the topper. These are all accessories Nancy wears in her books.
The bottom tier is a 10-inch, round, chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing. I used the recipe on the back of Ghirardelli baking cocoa, and it got rave reviews from our guests. I used a round tip to pipe white buttercream in a lacy pattern. This was much easier than I thought it would be, but it was the layer everyone asked about.
The middle layer is french vanilla (everything is fancier in French!) cake baked in a heart-shaped pan. I covered it in buttercream and edible, pink, heart-shaped confetti I found at Hobby Lobby.
The top tier is a 6-inch, round, french vanilla cake with buttercream. I used a number 17 tip to pipe white and violet buttercream swirls around the top and bottom and then set a tiara and heart-shaped candles on top.
If you're planning a Fancy Nancy party, there are many, many items you can get from birthdayexpress.com to add to the theme. I hope your party will be fancy like ours! Thanks for looking!

My daughter wanted a Fancy Nancy birthday. So, I did some research and found information on frozen buttercream transfers. It sounded pretty easy so I took a shot and it was extremely easy!
I made my buttercream frosting as I always do. I printed out a picture of Fancy Nancy in MIRROR IMAGE and covered with wax paper. Next I outlined everything in black, then went on from there. You need to think of it in layers. Front of picture to background. I started with her face, then her tiara, then hair. I did pink first, then orange, etc.
After filling in with my homemade mixture of colors I froze it for an hour then flipped it on my frosted cake. It's raised a little but I just filled in with the background color, it blends in. Then I added the embellishments around and on the side and last the writing (the face didn't melt or disfigure in anyway. I was worried it would become soft and lose its effect but it didn't).
I made this Fancy Nancy Bonjour Butterfly Cake for my daughter’s fifth birthday. The cake itself is two layers of a 10 x 10 square vanilla cake (one cake mix per pan). I frosted the cake with white buttercream frosting. The Fancy Nancy topper was purchased from a local cake decorating supply store. I star-tipped in white buttercream around the upper and lower edges of the cake, then used a small writing tip to add pink dot accents on every third star.
The butterflies on the side of the cake (my daughter’s idea) were made with rolled fondant from a four-pack of neon-colored fondant pouches. I used a small butterfly-shaped cookie cutter. This was my first experience with rolled fondant, and it couldn’t have been easier. After placing them on the sides of the cake, I piped yellow buttercream accents on them using a small writing tip. Purple glittery candles were placed on the upper righthand corner.
