This Fire Truck Birthday Cake is my second cake I ever made, this I made for my son's 3rd Birthday, as he loves fire truck's and all other trucks.
After I made my daisy cake I got inspired and thought I should make a cake similar to the daisy one for my son, also so that when he grows up he does not feel bad that I made a cake with fondant for his sister but not for him.
This cake needed a engineer so my husband helped me a lot with this cake, we both had so much fun doing it together. I never thought red color was so difficult! Well to color the white fondant to bright red was the most challenging. I made the fondant from scratch just as I did for the daisy cake. The cake was chocolate and vanilla, as my son loves vanilla and grownups love chocolate. I cut the cakes in the middle and filled it with pink homemade butter cream and strawberry jam, which kept the cake so nice and moist.
I made rectangle cakes, 4 of them and then cut them according to my hubby's drawing and then stacked them with gluing them with butter cream. Then was the difficult task of covering with fondant, it took a few tries, but the end result was really cool. Hope you enjoy it as we all did.
I made this homemade fire truck and burning house cake for my son's third birthday. I used a roasting pan for the ground. I sliced off the right corner and stacked it on the left corner then I frosted the whole thing green.
I made a graham cracker house and made flames from cinnamon and butterscotch hard candies. I placed them on parchment paper on a baking sheet and melted them. Once cooled I broke it apart into flames. I painted the roof with melted chocolate and made the doors and windows from royal icing piped right onto the graham crackers.
I made the truck from two loaf pans. One for the back of the truck and one cut in half and stacked on end for the cab. I used the Wilton pre-made red frosting. The wheels are chocolate covered Oreos. The truck accessories are made of fondant, as is the road, fire hydrant and water.
