First Castle Cake

by Crystal S.

I made this cake for my friends daughter 3rd birthday. A few days before I baked the cakes on separate days. You always want to give yourself a couple of days before the cake is due.

I used two 11x13 and two 8 inch round cakes to make the castle. I crumb coated it with homemade buttercream. Then I tinted the icing with wilton's pink food coloring for the next layer. For the windows and the doors I used vanilla wafers. I only used the first layer of the vanilla wafers because the whole wafer kept falling off.

For the decoration on the castle I used a star tip. I used marshmellows to border the castle and put around the round part of the cake. I used ice cream cones to make it actually look like a castle.

Thanks to every one from this site that showed examples of their castle cakes. By no means am I a perfect cake decorator. This was my first big cake. And she really like it. I hope you all will get some inspiration from this.
