Fish Bowl Cake

This fish bowl cake was easier than I thought. Start with two 8″ round cakes and frost them together. Wrap them in plastic wrap and put them in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

Cut a small section off the top and bottom of the cake. Put a dab of frosting on the bottom of the cake dish and “glue” the cake to the dish standing up. Frost carefully as to not knock the cake over. I used a variety of Swedish fish and painted eyes onto them with frosting.

I used Nerds candies for the “rocks” in the bottom of the tank. I cut fruit-by-the-foot into “seaweed” and twisted it as I pressed it into the cake and I used Chinese noodles in between that.

Small, flat, round sprinkles were used as “air bubbles” and I made a flag out of a toothpick and some paper to write the Happy Birthday message as to not disturb the rest of the cake.

The rim on top was piped on by just putting some frosting in a plastic bag and cutting the tip wide. All in all it was a time consuming but pretty easy cake.
