I was asked to make a cake that looked like a tin of Spam. My first thought was to make it lying down so that only the top and the sides would be visible and that was fairly easy to do. However, I don't like easy projects so I decided to make it stand upright.
The cake was probably 5 times the size of a normal tin of Spam and was layered with buttercream them sugarpaste that covered the entire cake, building up layers of colour depending on the logo. I then added the detail with an icing pen to create the barcode and instructions, etc.
The recipient of the cake did not know it was real and picked it up thinking it was a large tin, putting his fingers straight through the middle of the homemade tin of Spam cake!!
My daughter wanted a Japanese themed cake and we came up with a Bowl of Chicken Fried Rice Cake!
For the cake, I baked the cake in a Pyrex bowl and froze it for one day. The day after I baked it, I took it out and let it sit at room temp until the next morning! Frosted it with a light layer of white frosting to cover any holes. After this, we covered the bottom of the bowl with white fondant for a bowl. We left a little bit at the top for an edge of a bowl.
To the top of the bowl, we added colored fondant cut carrots, eggs, and chicken. Green sixlets are the peas, and last but not least, we sprinkled toasted coconut on the top for the rice!
This cake turned out better than we could have imagined!

I made this Oreo Cookie Cake years ago like in 2006. I found the recipe for Oreo cookies on a website somewhere, not sure where at this point. Anyhow, the cookie top and bottom is actually an Oreo cookie. I believe the cookie part was made in a 12inch pan the cake part would of been in a 10 inch pan.
Now at some point in the cooking process it's possible to write on the cookie part and have it look like it was made that way like an Oreo cookie looks. I put the regular Oreo cookies design all around the outside and then wrote happy birthday Bryan on it.
I started this Bacon and Eggs Cake with a normal yellow cake, with chocolate frosting.
I made the bacon and eggs with a store bought white fondant. I hand dyed the fondant to look like marbling in the bacon by barely kneading the frosting. The eggs were incredibly easy to make by just adding the yellow yolk.
For the egg yolk looking lettering I made a confection sugar frosting, I added more liquid then usual to make it runny. I refrigerated the cake after the lettering to set it and keep it from running straight off the plate.
This TV Dinner cake is all cupcakes. The chicken was graham crumbs and a donut on top. I also melted chocolate wafers and made the chicken bone. The butter was yellow taffy and black sugar on the corn on the cob plus jelly beans.
The mashed potato was yellow taffy and Carmel sauce for gravy. I had bought candy that looks like peas and carrots.
This Pancake cake is truly my favorite. This is a 4 inch round cake crumb coated with butter cream icing. The pancakes are made out of fondant rolled around the cake and colored with icing color as I go layer to layer. The butter is fondant and the syrup is piping gel warmed so it can be easy to pour. I warmed for only 8 seconds. Hope you enjoy!
