This football cake was for my son. He is a goalkeeper and he always forgets to tie his shoes. The big cake is filled with mascarpone and cherries and decorated with fondant. The football is baked in a Wilton pan and covered with fondant. I painted some parts gold.
It's filled with ,(I don't know what the English word is)bokkepootjescreme ,it's whipped creme with crumbled mocca cookies and chocolate buttercreme. The grass is green buttercreme. The figure is marzepan.
The shoe is also cake covered in fondant. I carved a piece of cake and i think i did it well. My son said :it's the same as my shoe.
This was my first decorated birthday cake for my son.
I made this football cake for my husband’s birthday. It is a football that has been “spiked” into the grass. All of the ingredients were store bought. It is completely sugar free except for the fondant.
I used a wonder mold pan and one 8 inch round pan. It took two cakes mixes to make this cake. Once it was cooled I dirty iced it with chocolate icing and stacked it. I then covered it in chocolate fondant. I covered the cake board with green fondant to make it look like grass. I also used sugar free white icing tinted green for the border of “grass” around the football and on the fondant grass.
My inspiration for this cake is my inspiration for most of my cakes-my husband. He is a huge nfl fan we watch every game and when the super bowl comes around its a big deal at my house. My husband brought home a super bowl magnet the week before the super bowl and it made me want to make a cake for our super bowl cake. I used the football pan by Wilton and just star tipped the whole thing. Then I attached the magnet and two gold football helmets I got at a local cake supply store and that's what I came up. It was a great addition to the party, and very simple.

This football cake was made for a nine year old little boy who's favorite sport is football.
This cake was made with (2) 9x13 flat sheet cake and the Wilton Football Pan.
This is a two flavored cake, one side vanilla and the other is chocolate.
Both layers of cake was put together and then the football was placed on top. This entire cake was piped. The grass was created using tip 233, the football was created using tip 16, and to make the yard lines and touchdown I used tip 2 and 5.
My husband made this cake using the football cake pan from Wilton. He just cut out midways in the middle, used some green frosting for the field with white for the stripes. Then taped together some toothpicks for the goal, iced them and stuck it in the cake.
Of course he used our hometown colors but any colors would look great on this cake. It was just an experiment but it turned out a lot better than we ever expected.
