girls 1st bday cake

I got this idea out of the Wilton cake book. I don't remember what year but my cake is very similar to the one that was in the catalog. I started out by making the first tier out of chocolate cake. I use the recipe off of the back of the Hersey cocoa container. I then made a simple white cake for the top tier. I made a buttercream frosting and colored part of it with the pink. I spread the buttercream on and didn't worry about the detail of perfecting the smoothness. I added the sprinkles for a whimsy look. My daughter's 1st birthday theme was the hugs and stitches so this cake was perfect for it.
