Homemade Pink Fender Guitar Cake

Homemade Pink Fender Guitar Cake

I used an 11x15x2 and a 9x13 and a 6" round cake for this Pink Fender guitar cake. I carved the body and the base of the neck out of the 11x15, the rest of the neck out of the 9x13 and the head out of the 6" round.

It was red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. I split each layer to put icing in the middle. Assembled the parts on a cake board (supported with wood, this was a HEAVY cake). Sculpted the pickups, the bridge, tuning knobs, effects switch, and pickguard out of white MM fondant.

I made the knobs out of fondant covered rolos. The fret markers were silver painted chocolate chips. the frets were foil wrapped toothpicks.

I put pink fondant over the body and positioned the white fondant pickguard. Painted a small layer of pink pearl dust over the pink fondant to make it shimmer (didn't turn out in photo) positioned the bridge (painted silver) and the pickups. Covered the neck with it. Brown colored fondant and painted with brown coloring to make it look more like wood (I need to work on that).

I lined the space under the neck of the guitar with black fondant to make it look like it was raised up.

We couldn't find our camera so the picture is from a cell phone.

The strap holders are Hershey's kisses. The Strings are real guitar strings held taut (well semi-taut) by toothpicks in the bridge and head.

Homemade Rock Star Guitar Birthday Cake

I made this Homemade Rock Star Guitar Birthday Cake to for my neighbor girl who was celebrating her 11th Birthday with a party themed ROCK STAR! The cake was something very new to me, and making this cake was a process of a lot of trial and error.

Shaping the Rock Star Guitar Birthday Cake proved to be the most challenging, and really it took shape by patching many different pieces together with a buttercream icing crumb coat. However, long after I had completed this cake I discoved that I could have simply traced the basic outline of any toy guitar, or even the guitar control to a guitar hero game! All part of the tiral and error process!

The decorating of the cake was once again a trial and error type of a deal from everything to the various colors to the specific features. I was pleased with some of the elements the guitar had, but I would have liked to have added strings amoung many things.

In the end it was great practice for myself and the Birthday Girl and her friends absoutly loved it!

Coolest Purple Guitar Cake 170

Homemade Purple Guitar Cake

Homemade Purple Guitar Cake

This Purple Guitar Cake is the first shaped cake I have ever made. I used a 9 in pan for the rounded part of the guitar then baked another cake in the 9 inch pan and carved it for the top. I then decorated it in home made Marshmallow fondant and used dusting powder to give it a metallic look.

The fret was cut out of cardboard then covered with fondant and I used string from the store for the strings.
