Gymnastics Cake

Gymnastics Cake

This Gymnastics cake is a homemade chocolate fudge cake with four layers of cake and three layers of chocolate fudge filling. Chocolate filling is chocolate gnashe with vanilla buttercream added. I only use 70% cocoa solids chocolate which is sometimes too strong for children so I add the buttercream to suit their palate.

I coated the top of the cake with vanilla buttercream and then covered it with homemade fondant icing. I cut the silhouettes of the gymnasts out of fondant icing coloured black and strengthened with gum tragacanth. I got the pictures from the internet.

I molded the Irish dancing shoe from the same fondant and then rolled and cut some pink fondant and made the ribbons for the gymnasts. Most of my cakes are specific requests and I find sites like this and images from the internet invaluable in being able to fulfil these requests. If you need any more information please ask.

Homemade Gymnastics Cake

Homemade Gymnastics Cake

I love this fun bright gymnastics cake.I made this cake with hot pink and bright green rolled fondant.

All the figures are hand formed of fondant. I make them in stages and attach them to the cake with buttercream. The stars are wired after being made 2 days ahead and left to dry. The girls names and medal were also prepareed ahead of time.

The cake was 2- tiers a 9" and 6" round. It would serve around 30-40 people. The Mom wanted a fun bright gymnastics cake and really told me to have fun with it.

The flavors were confetti which I also just used pink and green for and chocolate.

Gymnastic Girl Cake

by Dana B.

My friend and I decorated the cake in buttercream frosting and then we made fondant from scratch for the balance beam, barrel, and mat. We made rice crispy treats for the barrel (which I took a picture of the one at the gymnastics center and tried to make it look real) and balance beam. The stars and ribbons where made of fondant. This was our second time working with fondant and didn't know how we where going to decorated the cake until we started making it. It was for my daughter's 6th birthday and she thought it was the best cake ever!

Gymnastics Themed Birthday Cake

Gymnastics Themed Birthday Cake

I made this Gymnastics Themed Birthday Cake for an 8 year old gymnast. Everything is edible, including the figure on the balance beam. Balance beam and little girl is made from MMF (Marshmallow Fondant). I mixed cocoa powder in the fondant to get brown colored hair. It's a 3 layer cake that is chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting.
