Homemade halloween cake

by Shauna Kay
(Section, AL)

I started by making the cakes. I made a one layer 15" hexagon cake,a two layer 8" round cake, and a 6" round cake. All cakes where made from funfetti cake mix. I made orange and black buttercream icing. I started with chocolate buttercream icing to make the black. I icing all three layers with orange frosting. Earlier that day I made black buttercream roses and I got the instructions off of wilton.com. With a little practice anyone can make them. I piped black spiderwebs and "Happy Halloween" and the cake. After I completely assemblied the cake I placed the roses on. Since they had dried it was a little easier but watch for breakage.

Coolest Coffin Cake

Homemade Coffin Cake

Homemade Coffin Cake

This Coffin Cake was made for my niece for her first Halloween party. I made it in 4 layers. I carved them into the shape and cut out the inside. Crumb-coated it, covered it in fondant and then hand painted it. I added the details.

The top was hard to hold up, in the future I think I would build a structure, maybe of pipe or plexi, so you wont be able to see anything holding the top open.

Homemade Halloween Cake

Homemade Halloween Cake

This Halloween Cake is a 2 tiered chocolate cake with Chocolate Ganashe frosting. The ghosts are made out of white chocolate and the spider webs are sugar and water with a bit of corn syrup brought to a hard ball temp with a candy thermometer, then drizzled on to parchment paper to resemble spider webs (just make a lot of them and kinda thick they break easy).

The pumpkins are marshmallows with royal icing piped on them.

Homemade Creepy Halloween Cake

I made this Homemade Creepy Halloween Cake for my friend's husband who wanted a creepy Halloween cake for his birthday.

The cake consist of two cakes, the base is made from a chocolate mud cake covered with ganache, the skull was a white choc mud cake covered with fondant.

I made the skull itself using the a skull cake pan, which I found on the internet.

Halloween Cake

by Judi Hall
(Victoria, BC, Canada)

This was made for a Halloween party at the last minute so I didn't have time to buy any toppers. I made 2 9 inch round cakes and then frosted them. I added spiderweb detailing. The Spider on top is a cupcake piped with spikey black stars and black licorise legs and candy corn teeth.
