This Cheeseburger in Paradise Cake was for my brother-in-laws 40th. He is a big Parrot head! Everything is edible except the parrot. The bun of the cheeseburger is made of a white 6" round cake which I shaped to resemble the bun. It is covered with homemade icing tinted brown and smoothed. Toasted sesames are on top.
The burger is a chocolate 6" round. The lettuce, tomato and cheese are tinted marshmallow fondant. The middle tier is 2 8" rounds. The sand is crushed graham cracker and pirouette cookies are positioned to resemble a bamboo fence. The palm trees are pretzel rods with green royal icing leaves. The flip flops are painted fondant. I used the grass tip for the grass.
The bottom tier is a 10" round. It is covered in light blue fondant. The glass is painted and sprinkled with blue sugar. And of course there was a shaker of salt which was also painted fondant. The cake was a huge hit and it tasted good too!
This hamburger cake is slightly different from most of these recipes. Used a dome pan for the top, 9" cake pan for the bottom. White cake for buns. Brownie for the burger.
Lettuce is green candy coating tinted several different shades, melted and poured on accordion folded/wrinkled wax paper. Mustard and ketchup are a thick, tinted confectioners sugar glaze. Tomato slices made in muffin cups are sliced strawberries in strawberry jello - pointed ends in - when solid, wrap with fruit rollup "skin".
Relish is chopped kiwi. (apples or pears could probably be used for "onion" Finally - sesame seed are toasted pine nuts. This cake made it to my office for a co-worker's party when the temperature was over 100 degrees - hence the "juicy" melted tomatoes.
Still - it tasted great with the chocolate, fruit and peanut butter flavors....oh the "french fries" are sticks of toasted pound cake.
I was going to a BBQ and wanted to make something different. So this Hamburger Cake is what I came up with. I used a 9 inch round pan for the bottom bun and burger part of the cake. I also used the Wilton ball pan for the top of the bun (only one half of the pan).
I colored buttercrean with brown food coloring (bun) and chocolate icing for the burger. I set some buttercream aside to color red for ketchup, green for lettuce, Yellow for cheese or mustard. I took the 9 inch cake and cut it in half, bottom for bun and the other for burger. The rest is just making it look like a burger.
This Hamburger Cake was a fun and easy cake to make. It is a 1 layer yellow cake and an identical pan of brownies. The single layer cake was split in the middle and frosting was tinted with cocoa powder to make bun color. Bottom bun was frosted only on the outside.
The brownie was added and then the lettuce and cheese was rolled fondant. The tomatoes and pickles were rolled sugared jellied candy. The top was added and then frosted and PINE NUTS were added for sesame seeds.
The Wilton sports ball pan was used to make the top and bottom bun. The buns are made out of yellow cake. I added brown color to the remaining cake mix for the hamburger patty. Tinted butter cream icing is used for the bun and ketchup and white butter cream icing is used as mayo and seasame seeds.
The lettuce, cheese and tomato is made using tinted fondant.
The french fries are made from sugar cookie dough, sliced with a pizza cutter.
