I made this Hawaiian Luau Cake for a bridal shower for my sister-in-law's friend. Her theme was a Hawaiian Luau. I covered the cake in marshmallow fondant, made the Tiki hut out of a cupcake topped with colored bamboo (they were actually place mats I've found at Big Lots). The Tiki torches were toothpicks with fondant covered in graham cracker crumbs and a dab of orange icing for the flame. You could also use tootsie rolls.
The bottom layer I used pirouettes (mocha flavored, so good!). The waterfall is actually Jelly Belly Blueberry gel icing, it made the cake smell awesome! The flowers do trail from the top down along to the bottom, they themselves were marshmallow fondant as well. I kinda don't recommend using the marshmallow fondant for those cause they didn't harden up as well as I liked for them to. I even had them in the fridge overnight.
Otherwise the cake was a success and really fun to make. Thanks for looking!
I got this cake idea for a Hawaiian Luau birthday cake from Cake Central. When I first saw it I thought that it would go great with the theme. I made this cake for my uncle's birthday and he loved it.
The cake is a sheet cake but I did it double layer. Which is German chocolate on the bottom layer and French vanilla on top layer. It was filled with white chocolate mousse and iced in buttercream with fondant decorations. I made the Hawaiian girl 3 days in advance so that way it could get hard.
As for the decorations I made them about 2 days in advance with the leaf cutters and flowers cutters. And I hand painted the face to the Hawaiian girl.

This Hawaii Island Cake is a checker board cake inside (black and white cake). The main cake is layered and frosted in Butter cream frosting (BCF) that I made from scratch. The sand is made out of brown sugar with a little water added. The palm tree is life savers, and marshmallow fondant (MMF) (made from scratch).
The Tiki mask and Flowers: homemade rice krispie treats, wrapped in MMF then sculpted and layered. Volcano: sculpted out of Rice treats, wrapped in MMF, and MMF rocks. Then took BCF to make lava.
To finish I put pretzels around the edge and used piping gel for the water.
I made this Hawaiian Luau Cake for my grandaughter's 10th birthday. She wanted a luau cake and she told me the way she wanted it. She would like a beach, palm trees, tiki bar, an umbrella, sandals and dolphins.
I made the beach with piping gel and the sand with brown sugar. The tiki bar is edible (almost everything). The Hut and the large cake were covered all around with wafer logs. I made the umbrella, sandals, fishes, the stools and dolphins with fondant.
The bases of the large cake were three fishbowls with real fishes. The hibiscus were made with fondant too.
I made this Hawaiian Themed Cake for a 26th birthday. She wanted a Hawaiian/Luau Themed party so I made this cake for her. The cake was made of 11-inch and 9-inch round cakes (2 layers each) with chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries in the middle. I used buttercream icing to ice the entire cake then added piroulette wafers to the side of the top layer. I then used spray mist to make the water and outlined the waterfall with green icing.
The top “sand” is a graham cracker/brown sugar mix and the flowers I actually picked up at the Dollar store.
I made this Hawaiian Luau Birthday Cake for my niece's birthday party. It was my first time using gum paste to make the flowers and I was surprised how easy it was. The base is 2 square white cakes filled with a pastry cream and fresh strawberries covered in homemade marshmallow fondant.
The bamboo is also made out of fondant. I put little umbrellas in the bamboo sticks until it was time to sing happy birthday and I switched them to candles.
