Hello Kitty

I made this Hello Kitty cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I found a picture I wanted to use on the internet and just enlarged it to fit on a 9 x 13 inch cake.

I just cut and shaped it using a small knife until I got the shape I wanted. Then I frosted it as usual and made the flower and the bow out of marshmallow fondant which is much tastier than the store bought stuff. The whiskers are black licorice, which I had a hard time making them stay put, so it was the last thing I put on the cake before serving.

You can't see, but to finish it off, I piped frosting around the bottom edge and sprinkled pink edible glitter around that.
I think the hardest thing was picking out the right colors to make for her dress and undershirt since you can find Hello Kitty in so many colors now.

But it was a hit, my daughter loved it.
