I used a boxed yellow cake mix for batter for the Hello Kitty Birthday Cake, and did a 'CakeDoctor' on it. I printed out a picture of Hello Kitty on the web, blew it up to fit my mold and cut it out. I put that pattern on top of my baked cake and trimmed off all the excess to get the cat face shape.
It was pretty easy actually, didn't have to worry much about being exact because I would cover it up with frosting. I made my own buttercream frosting. Used black licorice for the whiskers and eyes, just cut and shape to right size (eyes needed a little trimming to make them a little rounded on the ends).
The white and pink candies are Good n'Plenty's, and the yellows are M&M's. The base of the cake is a sheet cake I bought at Costco, I just asked them to frost it white only. This was inexpensive, saved a lot of time, super tasty, and I got the big cardboard to carry my cake on which made it a lot easier.
I made this cake Hello Kitty Birthday Cake for my daugther's first birthday.
I made two cakes, a big one made with 8 eggs and a little one on top. I filled with Dulce De Leche (a very popular milk-based sauce in Uruguay). I covered with white icing and put sugar dots all around.
A friend of mine gave me a Kitty doll of his daughter. I put it on top of the cake; behind I put a bunch of balloons from an old souvenir.
I make cupcakes and put into a striped pink box behind the cake. I make Alfajores as well (a local sweet make with butter, and filled with Dulce de Leche and coconut. You can find a cool recipe here http://lamajuluta.blogspot.com/2005/10/alfajores-de-maicena.html#english

My girls' birthdays are 2 days apart and they both wanted a Hello Kitty Birthday Cake this year. I took a 13 x 9 pan and cut out the shape of Hello Kitty's head by using a parchment paper cutout that I had previously made.
I frosted the cakes and used black licorice for the whiskers and decorating icing for the remainder of the face. I also used a real ribbon for the bow.
I made this Hello Kitty Birthday Cake for my daughter's birthday party. It was very basic and easy to make. I made a square sponge and cut it to the right shape using a picture I found on the internet.
It was then covered in buttercream and white fondant icing, before fully decorated using writing icing from a supermarket, and liquorice wheels for the whiskers. Hope you like it.
This Homemade Hello Kitty Birthday Cake is a 10" round covered in white fondant. Flowers and polka dots are cut out of fondant with a cookie cutter. The ribbon is cut out of fondant with a fondant ribbon cutter. And Hello Kitty is cut out of fondant free hand.
This is my Homemade Hello Kitty Birthday Cake. I printed off pictures of the kitties and cut around them on the cakes. I frosted them with buttercream according to the pictures. They were for my daughter's 1st birthday. You'll notice I spelled ChocoCat wrong... Oops.
