My 2 year old niece is crazy about Hello Kitty. Since I didn't have the template, I used a picture off the internet for this Homemade Hello Kitty Birthday Cake Idea , enlarged it to A3 and cut the face out.
Step One: I used coloured sugar paste icing black, rolled it out and cut out the eyes and whiskers, yellow sugar paste for the nose and pink for the bow, The bow I cut a rectangle piece with the middle cut out the shape of a bow. I gathered it in a bit and stuck a round cutout with buttercream. I puffed up the bow with two pieces of wrapper underneath and left it there till the bow was hard and dry.
Step Two: I baked two sponge cakes, put jam in the middle and let it cool down. Once cool I covered with plastic wrap and froze.
Step Three: Once frozen I cut out the shape and put a crumb coat of butter icing using wooden spoon butter to keep it white.
Step Four: Roll out white sugar paste icing and cut out the shape about 5mm bigger than the template (you'll see why later). Once the crumb coat is dry to touch, gently lay the sugar paste face on the cake. Your eyes and nose can be put on with the buttercream icing.
Step Five: Using the buttercream icing gently give the cake its final layer, using that 5mm extra as a guide. After this add the bow and the whiskers. And there you have a perfect Hello Kitty cake with minimum effort.
My name is Tina. I come from Poland and have been living in England for 5 years. And I will try to write as clear as possible about my cake. My idea for a cake came out of my mind one night. People say I am really creative person, it is very kind of them. I never done this type of cakes before. This Homemade Hello Kitty Birthday Cake Idea is my first one and successful.
So the cake was made for my seven year old daughter for her birthday. I made it from white sponge powder and dark one. It was two-tiers cake and each tier had two layers. One of the layers had lemon and another one small amount of nuts. It could be whatever, only needs to fit taste. A cream was made form a fromage cream and icing sugar powder, also lemon. Next I made some flowers and leaves from gum paste. I also modeled "Hello Kitty" and put on the top of the cake.
I used some dust powder to colour flowers and other details. I needed icing to cover the cake. The Royal one is the best for me. After I made frills from pink coloured icing and added some pink neon dust on it. I made my cake in three days. Where the first I had to made flowers and the "Hello kitty" figure.
My Daughter was really happy and surprised seeing the cake.
