Homemade Abby Cadabby Birthday Cake

I knew that this cake had to be have pink & purples as it was for a little girl. I made a batch of marshmallow fondant tinted pink. I also made a batch of butter cream icing tinting purple. Then I made a separate batch of white icing.

I then baked the 3 cakes. The bottom 10 inch cake is chocolate. The top two 8 & 6 inch cakes are vanilla with added coloring to tint purple. Iced the cakes with white butter cream icing. Then rolled out fondant for the top two layers. I used a mat with stars for added effect for the fondant. Stacked the cakes making sure to secure the cakes with cake boards and dowls. I then pipped on purple stars to cover the bottom layer. I also added stars around the edges of the stacked cakes and put a huge dollop of icing on the top of the cake. Then I “glued” with icing the Abbey Cadabby sugar heads, stars and flowers.

This cake was a lot of fun to make. It was also the first time that I stacked a cake.so it was a little nerve wracking. Well worth it thought.
