Homemade Butterfly Cake

This is a birthday cake for a 19yo who only asked for the color Purple and Butterflies. This was the end result. The cake itself was Red Velvet and the frosting Buttercream. I reccommend when frosting the cake use a wide tipped piping spreader and a flat frosting spatchula, the coverage makes it much easier to frost and less time consuming. After frosting the cake was refrigerated for 4 hours and then airbrushed with Purple food coloring. The butterflies and silk flowers were purchased from a local craft store and were the very last thing added to the cake before delivery and are the only things not edible.

This cake alone has gotten me alot more requests for cake orders. I love making the cakes and have fun with the different requests. I have only been doing cakes from my kitchen for the past 3 years. And I have never taken a decorating class. Although Id like to.
