Homemade Joshua’s 1st Birthday Guitar cake

I made this cake for my son’s 1st birthday as we wanted him to have something personal. He’s quite an advanced child and really loved interacting with my guitars at the time. It’s interior features several round and long, log-formation, chocolatey cakes. A guitar’s body is relatively easy to sculpt out; essentially two inset rings and a long, flat toped, neck and then go with the detail. The exterior is fondant sheeting, chocolatey icing sugar, liquorice boot laces and coloured icing.

This was my first ever sculpted cake and I found it such great fun to make. I did a rocket for his second birthday and am about to make a cat for his third – hence my visiting this site for ideas. The greatest thing about this cake is that I love it, and more importantly, so does he!
