Homemade Dirt Bike Cake

Homemade Dirt Bike Cake

I made this groomsmen motor cycle cake for my cousin. It is an exact replica of his dirt-bike, a Yamaha WR-450F. It is sculpted from German chocolate cake(his favorite), and has rice-crispy treats, fondant, licorice chains and wiring, has a light up Speedometer, and the front wheel spins.

The frame is made of wood (to support the angle/weight, and is one of the few things non edible. It was hard work, and hard to let go, but well worth it and so gratifying to see my cousin's face.

That is the most impressive bike cake I have ever seen - well done - amazing attention to detail - so cool

Silly

I always think its silly when people make cakes that you can't eat. Meaning, the WHOLE CAKE. When did people start using wood or plastic? Make a cake that people can eat, now if the frame wasn't made of wood that would be impressive.

Fantastic

I think the cake is fantastic whether you can eat the entire cake or not. My grandson is wanting something with a motorbike on it but no well I could do this. Very Impressive!!

Just to let everyone know...every cake, especially tiered cakes need support through using card board or what ever you choose to use. As far as this cake goes using wood to imitate the bike doing a wheelie using a wooden stand was perfect!! The dirt below the bike is also cake and fondant...so that might be misleading on the whole wooden stand thing. I just wanted to say thank you for those who appreciated and enjoyed the cake!!!

Thanks :)

So how did you construct the stand, base into dowel then angled base? Please let me know. Thanks!

Construction
by: CHEF

So the bottom piece was a flat rectangle piece of plywood, and then, yes a dowel was placed and bolted about 2 or 3 inches from the end of the bottom piece of plywood, and then angled at the top, then a cut out of the bottom of the bike using another piece of plywood was bolted on top of the dowel with the wheel portion hanging off. Then on more added angled piece of wood which is the back part of the seat added to the top piece of wood.
