Mr tumbles spotty bag

Mr tumbles spotty bag

I made this mr tumbles spotty bag cake for my sons 2nd birthday,i used a 8inch sqaure rubber cake tin so it was easier to remove rather than having to grease the tin its self.I got this recipe off my mother in law in which she came across it from a cook book thats over 30yrs old.
The ingrediants i used where
6oz of self-raising flour
6oz of stork butter
6oz of caster sugar
3 eggs
2tbs of water
I put flour, sugar, butter into a large bowl and whisked till it was all creamed togetther then i added the 3eggs and water and whisked for 2-3mins till the mixture looked all thick and creamy.I baked it for 45mins at 180 degrees in a fan assisted oven.
once the cake had cooled right down i cut the bump off the top to level it out then cut it in half and filled it with jam (best jam to use is seedless hartleys squarty jam) then i put the cake back together, once i done that i put a blob of jam on top of the cake and used a pastery brush to brush all the jam over the cake.I used 250gs ready made white icing,i used a cocktail stick to dip into yellow food coulouring and rubbed a little on the icing and then needed the icing on a kitchen side that i sprinkled with icing sugar so it wouldnt stick.once i got the colour it was looking for i rolled the icing out and put it over a rolling pin and layed it ontop of the cake.To get an even finish around the bottom edges of the cake i used a pizza cutter to evenly slice the excess icing away.Once i was happy with the look of my cake i made up 100g of white icing and made it into a blackish colour once i done that i used 25g each for 6 diffrent colours red, pink, pale yellow, green and orange.i used a ruler to cut messure how thick i wanted the black section on the bottom of the cake then i used a new small paintbrush to rub a little water on the back of the icing to stick it down, i then rolled out 2 long sausage shapes one thick and one thin and again added a little water on the back with a paintbrush and stuck it down to make a pocket shape of the bag.once i finished that i cut out circles of the other 6 colours and stuck them down to get the design i was looking for.I brought a cbbs magazine with a mr tumble statue on it and stuck it down with a little white icing on the feet to stick it to the cake.My son was over the moon when he saw the cake i made for him,he is a massive mr tumble fan and to see his face light up melted my heart and i would do it all over again to see him smile like that...for his next birthday cake it will be a zingzillas cake looking forward to do doing that 1.thank you for taking the time to read this much appricated happy baking everyone x x

Hi! This cake looks really lovely. Amazing! What is the baking time in a gas oven as I haven't got fan a fan assisted one. Can I do this with a chocolate cake recipe?

Many thanks.

For a gas oven it would be a gas mark 4. I can't see why that wouldn't work :) x
