Homemade Strawberry Shortcake Dress Cakes

My Aunt Bobbi made these Strawberry Shortcake Dress Cakes for my daughter’s third birthday. She loves Strawberry Shortcake, and the look on her face when these were brought in, was priceless.

I’m not exactly sure how she made them. She used Devils food cake for the mini dolls and used yellow cake for the bigger doll. She made homemade frosting and dyed it all of the different colors she needed. She bought all of the dolls from the store, but could only find a soft Strawberry Shortcake doll for the bigger cake, so she wrapped the dolls bottom half in plastic wrap to avoid getting it dirty.

This looks like it took a lot of time and effort to decorate. I think you can find the dress cake pans online. She used different nozzle things to decorate the dresses with icing. Some people use sprinkles and things like that to decorate them. I think the glitter-like sprinkles look really good on these types of cakes.
