This egg was very scary when I was originally asked to do it but turned out to be very simple. The egg was just homemade cake recipe for a yellow cake made with the Wiltons 3D egg pan covered in chocolate ganache. The "foil" around the cake was fondant and the unwrapped foil was just tin foil |

I used a homemade cake recipe for the base, smoothed Nutella on top as the "icing", sprinkled chopped hazelnuts all around it and topped it off with Ferrero Rocher chocolates!

I used a homemade cake recipe and a rectangle baking container to bake this cake. I melted chocolate in ice cube trays and then covered the cake with melted chocolate. Drew a giant label on the computer and wrote the name of the birthday person.

I made this cake for a company that wanted a cake to celebrate Friday's at work. This is what I came up with. I used five 1 lb. coffee cans and I sprayed them real well with a combination of vegetable oil and flour spray in a can. I then prepared two cake mixes of a homemade cake recipe and poured mixture into each can half way. I put them all at the same time into a preheated 345 degree oven for one hour or until done (leave a little space in between each can as so not to be touching).
When done take out and cool completely! Then put in the fridge or freeze for a couple of hours to get cold as this will make the cake easier to decorate. I made up three batches of butter cream frosting and divided it equally to decorate the Lifesaver Roll, making colors in grey, red, green, light yellow, orange, bright yellow, white and blue. You will need at least one and a half cups of each color.
Take the cakes out of the fridge and slide carefully out of cans. Cut about one inch off the rounded end of each cake to make it straight. Now cut 1/2" off the bottom of each roll so it will fit flat on your cake board (make sure to put a dab of icing down first to work as glue to secure your cake to the board)"gluing" them all together to make your roll. Now make two rolls of gray with a number 21 star tip at each end of your roll (This will make your outside wrapper) and write the name LIFESAVERS on the top middle of your cakes and below that with the color white and write the name five flavors on it with a # 3 tip and surround the letterings with the color blue. Now divide evenly with your five colors and star tip them in with the # 21 tip as well.

This was my third grandson, Andrew's second birthday. My daughter always seems to come up with a different homemade cake recipe for Andrew’s cakes. For this one I found a picture of the M&M man.
| I used a 14” round cake pan that has a rounded top. These are a great set of pans that make an attractive cake for decorating. I use two cake mixes for this size pan. I prefer Duncan Hines cake mixes and always set the oven temperature at 315 degrees so that the cake center will rise flat and even with the sides. I also put wax paper back into the original pan and cover very well and freeze the cakes. They are easier to ice if frozen. | ![]() |
I made the M&M man out of fondant. It can be bought at the store and is like Play Dough. Keep it covered in a container until ready to put on the cake. The bottom border was a shell border using a large open star tip and a ruffle #101 around each shell. Peanut M&M’s were added around the cake. The writing can be directly onto the cake with a round tip. I don’t like my letter writing skills too much so I sometimes do the letters days before in royal icing. The recipe is in the Wilton book.
When finished I glued a toothpick on the back of each one with royal icing and let dry. This will keep the letters out of the icing. I put them at an angle on the cake. I like the way they look standing away from the cake. You can see that Andrew picks off the letters and eats those first!

This cake was in one of the Wilton yearbooks. It's the soccer pan and half of the wonder mold pan. The gumballs and trim is fondant and the base is a homemade cake recipe.

For this M&M's homemade cake recipe idea , I used a 9" round cake pan. I cut a little bit of the base so that it would sit up. I frosted with blue, white and black buttercream frosting and used Mr. Potato Head’s arms.

This is my candy corn-shaped homemade cake recipe idea. This cake is made of one cake mix and 2 cans of store-bought frosting.
I found a picture of a candy corn on the internet and enlarged it to the size I wanted my cake to be. I baked the cake in a 13x9 pan. I froze the cake for 2 hrs so it would be easy to cut. I placed the image on top of the cake and secured it with toothpicks.
I then took a sharp knife and cut around the image. I took the icing and colored it the color that candy corn is. I used a big star decorating-tip and iced the cake. It was very simple yet really cute.
