My nephew wanted an Ice Age cake after going to see Ice Age 2 at the theaters so I came up with a kid birthday cake idea that would fit the Ice Age movie theme.
I started with a single 12in round cake for the bottom, iced with white butter cream icing. The glacier is made from Wilton's Wonder Pan. I gently started a crack in the cone shaped cake then carefully placed it on the 12in round and cracked it open like I wanted. I iced the outside of the glacier in white butter cream not smoothing it so it would look like rough ice.
The inside of the glacier is iced with light blue butter cream, again not smoothing the icing so it looks like broken ice. I used a round tip #4 to ice the top border of the 12in round with the light blue butter cream to look like icicles. All the characters are just the small play sets that were purchased from a toy store.
This is a pretty big cake but the kids loved it.
Just for kicks I used white cake mix and tinted it light blue so it would look like ice when you cut in to it. It looks really neat.

| This kid birthday cake idea was made for my 6 years old son. He likes the Ice Age movie so I decided to make the cake of Diego the Tiger. For this cake, first bake a 14"round cake two times, one for the base and the other one I cut it in the shape. It was frosted with white butter cream icing and the name was made with color flow icing three days before. |  |
Diego's face was placed on top of the round cake after frosting with the icing. Every person in the party was surprised with my work that was a big project. I am so proud of myself....
