Coolest Lifesaver Cake

I made this cake for a company that wanted a cake to celebrate Friday’s at work. This is what I came up with. I used five 1 lb. coffee cans and I sprayed them real well with a combination of vegetable oil and flour spray in a can. I then prepared two cake mixes of a homemade cake recipe and poured mixture into each can half way. I put them all at the same time into a preheated 345 degree oven for one hour or until done (leave a little space in between each can as so not to be touching).

When done take out and cool completely! Then put in the fridge or freeze for a couple of hours to get cold as this will make the cake easier to decorate. I made up three batches of butter cream frosting and divided it equally to decorate the Lifesaver Roll, making colors in grey, red, green, light yellow, orange, bright yellow, white and blue. You will need at least one and a half cups of each color.

Take the cakes out of the fridge and slide carefully out of cans. Cut about one inch off the rounded end of each cake to make it straight. Now cut 1/2″ off the bottom of each roll so it will fit flat on your cake board (make sure to put a dab of icing down first to work as glue to secure your cake to the board)”gluing” them all together to make your roll. Now make two rolls of gray with a number 21 star tip at each end of your roll (This will make your outside wrapper) and write the name LIFESAVERS on the top middle of your cakes and below that with the color white and write the name five flavors on it with a # 3 tip and surround the letterings with the color blue. Now divide evenly with your five colors and star tip them in with the # 21 tip as well.
