Lighting Mc Queen Cake

I wanted to make a cake for my son who was turning 3. I found this website and got inspired to do it. I used a rectangular cake for the middle and 3 round cake pan for the other two. Everything I used was store bought because of the time and I don't have that much experience making icing from scratch so I didn't wanted to ruin the cake. On the rectangular cake I first outlined the number 3 and fill it in with a star tip all in black and added the white lines to make it look like a racing track. For the grass I used a butter knife and made the green icing with Wilton icing colors. As I added the green icing I will pull up at the end to make it seem like grass. On the other two I made two round cakes and the third one I cut it in 1/2 and added it to the top to give it the effect as you can see in the picture. My son already had all the cars so I used them on his cake. Also on the round ones I first applied the white Icing and then made the checker flags and used blue glitter for cakes to make it sparkle. It was fun to make it but be ready for the mess. My son was soooo excited when he saw it. It was worth all the mess and the work I did for his smile.
